Click on the tabs to alternate between both imagesĤ0. Both images open in Photoshop in separate tabbed windows. Click and drag to select the two PNG images you created and then click the Open buttonģ9. Click the Save button and then close the document by clicking the close button (the little X) to the right of the filename/info in the window tabģ8. Give the file a name, make sure the Save as type is Photoshop, and the Save: Layers checkbox is checkedģ6. The files you saved previously are your finished files – you’re now saving your working file which contains all your layers so you can go back and make changes later onģ5. Rename the newly-created layer by double-clicking on the name and typing it’s new name – this is optional, but a good habit to get into otherwise you can get in a right muddle later onġ6. This copies your selection to a new layerġ5. Complete the selection by dragging the Lasso Tool just after the start of your selection – you’re indicating the end of the selection loop where the start and end intersectġ4. You can draw quite a rough selection around the alien – you don’t need to make it very precise, but just make sure you don’t select any parts of the other aliensġ2. Carefully click and drag with the Lasso tool around the first alien making sure you select all of the alienġ1. Select the Lasso tool by clicking on its icon in the Toolboxġ0. Note that the placed image is now on its own layer above the plain white background layerĩ. Click the Tick button to confirm that you’re happy with the position and size of the placed imageĨ. Ensure the Layers Panel is showing by clicking on the Layers button in the Task BarĤ. Yes, the jpeg format can't store layers, but it can store a clipping path.Here you go Open up the Photoshop Elements Editor and make sure you’re in Expert modeĢ. You should be able to print directly from Elements or from a saved copy in psd, tiff. Once you have created this 'clipping path', you are in the same situation as in Photoshop. There is a script to create a path from a selection you have made in Elements (same selection way as in Photoshop): My suggestion is to download the very affordable Elements+. Since Elements does not have the full 'path' panel, you need an additional script to restore that functionality. Refine your edges Use the Brush tool to clean up any small bits of background that remain. Click to remove In the Properties panel, click Remove Background under Quick Actions. It automatically fills the background (matte?) with white, so that the only suggested process is to include a 'clipping path' in your image. Pick your photo Open your image in the Layers panel and unlock the layer. Your detailed description and the link to YouTube show that your printer driver works very differently from conventional inkjet printers.
